Thursday 2 February 2012."Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy".
This British film has been much acclaimed, and is a new adaptation of John le Carré's novel.
(. . . Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy . . . tied for the most nods at this year's British Independent Film Awards. [BBC]).
It is a brilliant study of the disenchantment, compromise and tension of the 1970s spy game.
In the bleak days of the Cold War, the melancholy espionage veteran George Smiley (played by Gary Oldman) is forced from his humiliating retirement to uncover a Soviet agent mole in the upper reaches of the secret service. Running time: 2hr. 10min.
Venue: the Parish Hall, Kings Drive, LFE.
Cost: £5. The showing starts at 7.30pm.
Doors open at 7.00pm when a complimentary hot drink and biscuits will be provided. As
there is no bar, please feel free to bring your own 'refreshments'.
LFE will be the first Leicestershire community cinema to make this film available.
