The last meeting of the Quorn, Barrow, Sileby & the Wolds Area Forum took place on Wednesday 1st February 2012 at Sileby Youth Club, King Street, Sileby.
Please find below the Agenda for the meeting, the Minutes will be added once they are available.
There was an update on the projects that were successful in gaining funding from the recent Community Forum budget process.
The Forum also heard about what residents can do to champion their area, with a view to upgrading exchanges to facilitate superfast broadband provision.
There was also a lively discussion on the Localism Bill, which will make it easier for local people to take over the amenities they love and keep them as part of local life.
The next meeting will be a special Forum Budget meeting at which the Area Forum will have £12,500 to allocate to voluntary and community groups. This will take place on Tuesday 22nd May, and the venue for this is likely to be in Barrow. Details of how groups can apply for funding will be put on the Website as and when they become available.

Thursday 2 February 2012."Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy".
This British film has been much acclaimed, and is a new adaptation of John le Carré's novel.
(. . . Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy . . . tied for the most nods at this year's British Independent Film Awards. [BBC]).
It is a brilliant study of the disenchantment, compromise and tension of the 1970s spy game.
In the bleak days of the Cold War, the melancholy espionage veteran George Smiley (played by Gary Oldman) is forced from his humiliating retirement to uncover a Soviet agent mole in the upper reaches of the secret service. Running time: 2hr. 10min.
Venue: the Parish Hall, Kings Drive, LFE.
Cost: £5. The showing starts at 7.30pm.
Doors open at 7.00pm when a complimentary hot drink and biscuits will be provided. As
there is no bar, please feel free to bring your own 'refreshments'.
LFE will be the first Leicestershire community cinema to make this film available.

Woodhouse Parish Council
A brilliant comedy film about villagers trying to stop the railway closing. Titfield village residents rely on it to commute to work and take their produce to market. They're shocked when government plans to close it. The supporters are bitterly opposed by bus operators. It's subtle, warm, wry and ironic. The plot of a village about to be cut off from its railway lifeline is only too real.
