DEFIBRILLATOR BRIEFING - SEATON VILLAGE HALL
Thu, 18 Aug 2016 6:30pm

DEFIBRILLATOR BRIEFING - SEATON VILLAGE HALL ON THURSDAY 18 AUGUST 2016 AT 6.30 pm

Seaton Parish Council is installing a defibrillator in the bright yellow cabinet on the front wall of the Seaton Village Hall on Thursday 18 August 2016. The cabinet will never be locked.

The defibrillator is simple, safe and easy to use. Once you open it, all you have to do is follow the spoken instructions.

But, we want to ensure as many Seatonians as possible feel confident in how to use it.

Ben Ryrie of East Midlands Ambulance Service will therefore be providing a demonstration about how to use the defibrillator in the Village Hall from 6.30pm - 8pm on Thursday 18 August 2016.

So, please come and find out how you can help save lives. And, remember, there are approximately 60,000 Out of Hospital Cardiac Arrests per year in the UK. About 80% of these occur at home; and, they affect people of all ages, including children.

When someone has a cardiac arrest, every minute without CPR and defibrillation reduces their chances of survival by 7-10%.

If a defibrillator is used and effective CPR is performed within 3-5 minutes of cardiac arrest, survival chances increase from 6% to 74%.

Please call Nic Greenfield on 747589 or email him at greenfield.nic@gmail.com to reserve your place.

Light refreshments will be served

Seatonian Charlotte Rudkin's Memorial
Sat, 20 Aug 2016 8:15am

Please come join us on the 20th of August at 9.15 am at the Seaton phone box for the dedication of a memorial plaque to Charlotte Mary Rudkin who was instrumental in saving the old red phone box in Seaton a few years back, and who died of breast cancer on the 23rd of August last year. A brief placing of the plaque inside the phone box will be followed by a light sit-down pot luck buffet breakfast/brunch in the Village Hall. There will be photos of Charlotte and music, and just a chance to informally gather with friends, neighbours, and family of Charlotte as the first anniversary of her untimely death approaches. It will be a happy occasion of remembering the wonderful person Charlotte was, and the lives she touched.

Please RSVP to her husband, Jerry Burgess, at gb222@le.ac.uk, 01572-747042, 34 Main Street, Seaton
